12:40: AGI refers to computers that are human-like in their strategic and capability, today’s #computers and today’s #algorithms are extraordinarily good at generating #content, #misinformation, #guidance helping you with #science and so forth but they’re not self-determinative, they don’t actually have the notion of #WhoAmI and what do I do next if you ask #GPT3 who it is, GPT3 will say [in fact, generate ‘programmed’ response to the query] ‘I’m a computer’ [as did Ray Kurzweil’s ‘avatar’ bot Ramona did 20-25 years ago: https://lnkd.in/ehU2wNT4%5D but it won’t give you a philosophical basis for its #existence its #purpose and how it’s determining where it goes [such as Norbert Weiner’s classic The #Human #Use Of #HumanBeings: #Cybernetics And #Society: https://lnkd.in/ey4rzR28%5D. That’s the distinction between #AI and #AGI… let’s say 15 years from now it may be possible to have computers that have a #sense of #SelfDetermination, that they know roughly what they are trying to achieve…:
