They are very much like a savant who can #recite every word in all volumes of the History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire WITHOUT COMPREHENDING any content. Without such #comprehension, LLMs can’t perform any #intellectual task that #human #beings can do.

Despite historically unprecedented #WallStreet #hype, Generative AI-Large Language Models LLMs have NOTHING to do with MEANING, THINKING, REASONING or UNDERSTANDING. ALL current AI and GenAI, at best, can be described in terms of Statistical Computational Machine Learning capabilities for Pattern processing of PAST HISTORICAL Data. Such Past Data can have NOTHING to do with PREDICTION of FUTURE in as much as Future Patterns can certainly differ from the PAST patterns. For AI to be HUMAN-LIKE in terms of MEANING, THINKING, REASONING or UNDERSTANDING and PREDICTION of FUTURE, we MUST advance to Meaning-Aware Human-Centered AI of which we are building R&D Foundations Leading Global Practices for 30-years.
